Objectives
  • Advise or develop guidelines for local bodies, the provincial government and federal government on open space development projects of long- and short-term significance.
  • Identify public lands across Kathmandu and other areas of Nepal and report about their current status with proposed intervention.
  • Use the learnings as a tool to guide city decision-makers and implement pilot projects on riversides as a catalyst for future development.
  • Create a movement on a greener and cleaner Nepal with a more extensive volunteer base that is inclusive, impactful and impossible to ignore.
  • Create a space for dialogue and establish a team of experts from fields of art and architecture, environment, science, land-use planners, construction and every other related field to re-think public spaces.
  • Engage the local community stewardship of local green spaces.
  • Link-up schools and do programs to educate, engage and inform about the greening of school ground-areas and critical principles of environmental stewardship in urban areas.
  • Creating a network of parks would enable the creation of more job opportunities surrounding the maintenance of parks and recreation facilities.
  • Revitalize under-used public lands into well-planned open spaces for all to enjoy.
  • To unlock the potential of available space and incite innovative ways of rethinking public spaces.
  • Conduct studies and bring awareness on environmental aspects of Nepal including climate change its adaptation and mitigation strategies.
  • Have a local impact, encourage a global culture of sustainability while promoting the adoption of affordable and sustainable architectural designs.
  • Lead as an example to the decision-makers, leaders, and citizens and to inspire people to adopt pro-environmental approaches while helping generate environmental awareness in communities.
